Nik, the guard in short sleeves
Nicolas, trustworthy and caring Royal Guard,
Serves in England an old and somewhat tiresome Queen.
With devotion, he keeps a watch over the jewels of the castle every day,
but his dream since a child is to live in the most beautiful land!
“No good Royal Guard may ever leave the fortress!”
His mother scolded him, thereby consoling that sadness.
But within the heart is the desire to sail away on a boat
to leave that uncomfortable funny hat forever behind.
“I would like to go where the sea is crystalline
so I can take a dip early in the morning.
Somewhere where the sun warms my skin
and my heart is enthralled by watching the stars.
Where the olive trees are always green
and you lose yourself in the infinite blue of the sea”
One fine day, while Nicolas is serving,
A little bird settles, revealing a clue.
“If you close your eyes with a wish to be fulfilled,
The Royal Gate of the Castle may surprise you!”
And boom! A sudden gust of wind blows the hat off,
The Guard chases it up to the majestic entry gate.
He picks up his hat, stops to look at the shiny opening
and closes his eyes, thinking only of his lifelong dream.
